Laziness  vs. Diligence

One of the best Cross-Centered and Biblical descriptions of diligence that I found was: viewing every task as a special assignment from the LORD and using all my energies to accomplish it. Isn't that right definition, with a gospel perspective? I love it!  Of course, I have to be honest in that there is a reason why it took me us so long to upload this series.......because I realized that as a mom, I struggle with many of the same areas that I expect our boys to recognize and surrender.  Isn't that good though, that we can embrace the same truth from the Lord whether we are parents or a child, and that we have the same need for the Savior, who is always there to give us grace! In light of this truth and recognition of needed growth in my own life, I have included a separate checklist for us moms---if you dare, take a peek and see if you can relate. :)

Check if it is true in your life today – otherwise, would others say you are characterized by the statements below.

My mom rarely asks me to re-do or detail a task.  Prov. 22:9

I am quick to respond without delay when my parents give me instruction.  Eph. 6:1

  □   After brushing my teeth, I put everything away and clean the toothpaste from the sink and counters.  Prov. 12:27

  □   I work hard and do my best and strive for excellence when completing a task.  Col. 3:23

  □   I do not need reminders or rebuke for daily responsibilities such as brushing my teeth or picking up my room. 1 Cor. 4:2

  □   After eating, I am characterized by putting my dishes in the dishwasher and cleaning up after myself.  1 Cor. 4:2

  □   I do not get distracted easily but stay on task.  Eph. 5:15-16

  □   If there is something on the floor, I do not walk over it but pick it up.   Eccl. 2:24; 3:12; 5:19

  □   I do not leave my shoes out. Prov. 12:27

  □   After getting my clean laundry, I put it away without delay. Prov. 10:4

  □   I do not wait until the last minute to do my homework. Prov. 20:4

  □   I do not have little piles all over the house. Prov. 12:27

  □   There is nothing under my bed that doesn’t belong there. Eph. 6:6

  □   I plan ahead for birthday parties and write encouraging notes well before the day.  2 Peter 1:5

  □   I awake early and prepare my heart before Sunday service. 2 Peter 1:5

  □   I often have an excuse for why I haven’t completed a task. Ec. 11:4

  □   I look for opportunities to serve others and regularly ask others how I can help them.  Romans 12:8

  □   I spend daily committed time in the Word of God.  Prov. 4:23/2 Tim 2:15
